Williamson County, together with the City of Leander and Waste Management, are hosting a FREE household hazardous waste collection event.  The event will be held Saturday, October 15, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the City of Leander Public Works Department, 607 Municipal Drive, Leander, Texas 78641. Read more for a list of items that are accepted.

The Williamson County District Clerk’s Office will be closed for staff training on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, from 12 to 5 p.m.  The District Clerk will be available for emergency filings by calling 512-943-1970 on October 5 after noon.

The deadline to register to vote is October 11, 2016, for the November 8 Presidential Election. In Texas, citizens do not register by political party, but simply register in their county of current residence. There is a 30-day waiting period before a registration becomes effective for any election.

September is National Preparedness Month (NPM) in Williamson County. This month, we all should take action to prepare for the types of emergencies that could affect us where we live, work, and also where we visit. This year’s theme “Don’t Wait, Communicate” emphasizes talking with your family members about developing an emergency communications plan. Use the attached document to help your family develop a plan on how to communicate during a disaster.

Tax Rate

Williamson County adopted a tax rate that will raise more taxes for maintenance and operations than last year's tax rate. The tax rate will effectively be raised by 5.87 percent and will raise taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home by approximately $14.93.
