Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR):
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to Williamson County for its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2007. This was the 17th consecutive year that Williamson County has achieved this prestigious award. In order to be awarded a Certificate of Achievement, a government must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized comprehensive annual financial report. This report must satisfy both generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements. A Certificate of Achievement is valid for a period of one year only. Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR):
This report is also known as the “Citizen’s Report.” The County Auditor began publishing this report for FYE 2005 in order to provide the citizens of Williamson County a much more “user-friendly” reporting of the county finances.
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has given an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting to Williamson County for its Popular Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2007. The Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting is a prestigious national award recognizing conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government popular reports. In order to receive an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting, a government unit must publish a Popular Annual Financial Report, whose contents conform to program standards of creativity, presentation, understandability and reader appeal. An Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting is valid for a period of one year only. Texas Association of Counties - Leadership Foundation - 2001 County Best Practices Innovation Award is conveyed to Williamson County Shifting the Paradigm of Governmental Financial Reporting for outstanding achievement and effective management of county government facilities, processes and programs.
This honor was awarded for excellence in our Financial Center which is an intra-net based reporting tool allowing all departments immediate and real-time access to fincial information from revenues and expenditures to available budget funds and balances.
